This year Paul veron and myself started the cormorant colour ring project with our first visit to
godin on the 13 th April on arrival we noticed a lot of juvinile cormorants that were ready to fledge
even though we were at least 2 weeks earlier then last year it seems that we might have missed
them again but we managed to ring 15 pullie with colour rings and metal rings there were still
some nests with eggs and small chicks so we decided on another visit in 10 - 14 days time
with the help of Pauls brother Chris and his rib we took a visit on the 2nd of May and managed
to ring another 15 pullie with a total of 30 birds colour ringed on Godin
in between these dates on the 21st April we went across to Lihoumel and rung another 10
cormerant pullie it was a great start to the cormarnt project . many thanks to Pauls brother Chris

With a poor start to Novembers ringing at Jerbourg with high winds and rain a phone call
from Paul Veron yesterday to see if I was up to some Gull ringing we were hoping to start
a new project with colour ringing Black headed gulls but decided that we would go for
large Gulls in Paul Verons garden we met this morning at 7.30 with Phil Alexander a trainee
Paul had already baited the trapping aera it was not long before Gulls started coming in
within about half an hour we had about a hundred Gulls in the aera and about 60 +
in the trapping aera and decided to take the catch with 65 new Herring gulls of witch 49
were first year birds and 6 second year birds and a pleasant surprise with a single adult

Black headed gull gave us a start to the Black headed gull ringing project
